  • The Georgia Lady Bulldog basketball team plays No. 1-ranked South Carolina in the quarterfinals of the 2020 SEC Tournament this Friday at noon ET. Eric Frede and Tamika Catchings will call the action on the SEC Network.
  • Georgia, the No. 9 seed, defeated No. 8 seed Alabama, 68-61, on Thursday. The Lady Bulldogs led for nearly 30 minutes on their way to the fifth win in the last seven games this season.
  • Redshirt-junior center Jenna Staiti continued her impressive pace. The Cumming, Ga., native scored 20 points to go along with 14 rebounds and 7 blocks against Alabama. It marked her fourth-straight 20-point game and her eighth consecutive contest in double figures.
  • Staiti is averaging 20.3 points and 9.9 rebounds per matchup over her last eight games. She has also hit 50.8 percent (60-of-118) from the field and 88.9 percent (40-of-45) from the free-throw line during this current stretch. Thursday’s performance against Alabama marked Staiti’s sixth double-double of the year. She only had one double-double in her first two collegiate seasons combined.
  • Freshman guard Chloe Chapman played arguably her best game of the season on Thursday. She scored a career-best 8 points to go along with 6 assists and 4 rebounds. Chapman, who drew her fourth start of the year after taking the place of the injured Que Morrison, played a career-high 38 minutes against Alabama.
  • Junior guard Gabby Connally scored in double figures for the fourth-straight game with her 16 points against Alabama.

UGA Baseball: No. 3 Bulldogs Welcome UMASS To Foley Field

ATHENS—– Third-ranked Georgia welcomes UMASS to Foley Field for a three-game series starting Friday. First pitch is scheduled for 6:02 p.m (SECN+).

At 11-2, the Bulldogs have matched their start from a year ago after 13 games. The 2019 club roared out to a 19-2 start and finished 46-17 in the sixth season under Ike Cousins head baseball coach Scott Stricklin. This past Tuesday, Ga. Southern snapped Georgia’s four-game winning streak with a 6-3 win at Foley Field. Then Wednesday’s rematch at SRP Park in N. Augusta, S.C. was postponed due to rain. It will be made up Tues., March 10 at SRP Park.

The Minutemen (1-5), coached by Matt Reynolds, are in the middle of a 19-game road trip to open their season. They began the year with a 6-3 win over Delaware State but have lost five straight including getting swept by Navy last weekend in Annapolis. UMASS opens Atlantic 10 conference play March 20 at Davidson and its first home series will be against Richmond March 27. Georgia has never faced UMASS.

UGA Men’s Tennis: Georgia to Cap Six-Match Home Stretch Against Ole Miss, Mississippi State

ATHENS, Ga. – The 10th-ranked Georgia men’s tennis team is coming off quite the exciting week as it heads into this weekends’ conference clashes to conclude a six-match home stretch. The Bulldogs take on No. 11 Ole Miss Friday, March 6, at 2:30 p.m. at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex before returning Sunday, March 8, to face 41st-ranked Mississippi State at 1 p.m.

Georgia, 4-0 at home, returns to the courts after making an impressive leap in the rankings. The Bulldogs jumped from No. 35 to No. 10 after knocking off No. 3 Ohio State and No. 10 Tennessee over a span of three days. Bulldog head coach Manuel Diaz managed an impressive feat of his own last weekend. Diaz recorded his 707th career win against the Buckeyes to surpass Bulldog great Dan Magill’s all-time win record (706), becoming the all-time winningest coach in SEC history.

Georgia (7-2, 1-0) welcomes the 11th-ranked Rebels Friday afternoon at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex. Ole Miss heads to Athens 10-2 overall and 1-0 in the SEC after taking down Arkansas (4-3) last Sunday, March 1.
