ATHENS, Ga. — Georgia senior linebacker Channing Tindall has been named the Walter Camp Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) National Defensive Player of the Week, according to an announcement from the Walter Camp Football Foundation.
Tindall, a native of Columbia, S.C., joined Mississippi State quarterback Will Rogers (National Offensive Player of the Week) to give the Southeastern Conference a sweep of this week’s awards.
Tindall is the 10th Georgia player to earn Walter Camp National FBS Player of the Week honors and the first since former Bulldog running back Todd Gurley in 2014.
Tindall piled up eight tackles, had a career-high three sacks and a forced fumble during Georgia’s 41-17 victory at Tennessee. He helped the Bulldogs hold the Vols to just 55 yards on 36 carries (1.5 avg.). With Georgia up 27-10 and Tennessee in UGA territory, Tindall picked up a pair of third quarter sacks on the same series, including one on a 4th-and-13 situation. On the Vols’ next possession at the UGA 7-yard line, Tindall sacked the quarterback and forced a fumble that his teammate Travon Walker recovered.
The No. 1 Bulldogs (10-0, 8-0 SEC) play host to Charleston Southern (4-5, 3-4 Big South) on Saturday. SECN+ will stream the matchup at 12 p.m.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Georgia senior running back James Cook tied a career high with 104 yards rushing and three touchdowns to lead the Bulldogs to a 41-17 win against Tennessee in front of 100,074 fans and a CBS national television audience Saturday afternoon at Neyland Stadium.
The top-ranked Bulldogs improve to 10-0 overall for the first time since 1982 and 8-0 against Southeastern Conference opponents for the first time in program history. The Volunteers falls to 5-5 this season.
Undefeated SEC Regular Season: With today’s 41-17 victory, top-ranked Georgia (10-0, 8-0 SEC) posted a perfect 8-0 mark in the league for the first time in school history. The average margin of victory in these games was 31.9 points. Georgia now has completed league play undefeated eight times, and this is the first 8-0 mark since the SEC split into divisions in 1992. This is the third time that Georgia has gone 6-0 in the SEC East under Kirby Smart. Since 2017, Georgia is 27-2 against the East. Georgia is now 10-0 for the first time since 1982 when it went 11-0. The Bulldogs also started out 10-0 in 1980 and 1946. The 2011 team began the year 0-2 and then won 10 straight games to close out the regular season.
Defensive Review: Top-ranked Georgia, the national leader in Scoring Defense (6.6 ppg), held Tennessee to 10 points in the first half as the Vols ran 41 plays for 184 yards (159 yards came in the first quarter and only 25 yards in the 2nd quarter). UT added a TD in the 4th quarter to finish with 17 points as the Vols were averaging 38.2 ppg. Georgia opponents have scored just 76 points, and that tally through 10 games is the lowest in a season at this point since 1950 when it allowed 58.
