UGA Football: National Championship Celebration Set For Saturday

Stadium Celebration: 2:00 p.m.
The University of Georgia will celebrate the Bulldogs going back-to-back to win the 2022 National Championship on Saturday, January 14 in a ceremony at Sanford Stadium.

Stadium gates open at noon. A parade down Lumpkin Street to Sanford Stadium will start at 12:30 with a Dawg Walk at 1 p.m., and a formal program beginning at 2 p.m.

Due to ongoing construction on the South side of Sanford Stadium, there will be several changes from last year’s championship celebration:

  • Dawg Walk will begin at the Baxter Street extension and proceed thru the Tate Student Center Plaza.
  • Entry for this event will be through gates 1,2,3, 4, 4A and 5 only.
  • Seating in the stadium will be limited to the West, East, and North stands only, in addition to reserved seating on the field.

All regular gameday procedures will be followed with campus opening up to visitors on Saturday at 7 a.m.

Parking will be available on a first-come-first-served basis throughout campus with the exception of Tate Center Deck, Reed Hall, Psychology-Journalism, Railroad, East Campus Road, Legion, and Stem Deck parking lots.

TICKET INFORMATION
All tickets are complimentary and will be available to Hartman Fund season ticket holders, Faculty & Staff season ticket holder and students who received full or partial season ticket packages beginning January 10th at 9 a.m., by logging into their ticket account. Remaining tickets will be available to the general public beginning at 9 a.m. Thursday, January 12th via georgiadogs.com

For those fans that are unable to attend the parade or championship celebration, there are options to enjoy the day’s activities.

TELEVISION – WSB-TV will have live programing starting with Bulldogs Gameday leading up through the parade and ceremony.

STREAMING – Video streaming of the event will be available on georgiadogs.com, SEC Network+, and Facebook Live.

UGA Football: Game Review – Bulldogs Dominate TCU For Second Straight National Championship

INGLEWOOD, Calif. — The No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs scored on their first six possessions, led by 31 at the half, and cruised to a 65-7 win over No. 3 TCU Monday night at SoFi Stadium to capture their second straight national championship.

Unlike last season’s National Championship Game, in which the Bulldogs needed to rally to beat Alabama, Georgia jumped on the Horned Frogs from the outset. The lead was 17-7 after the first quarter and 38-7 at halftime, as quarterback Stetson Bennett and the offense started hot and stayed hot, and the defense produced its own dominating performance that included three first-half turnovers.

Georgia is the first team in the College Football Playoff era to win back-to-back national championships. The victory was the 17th in a row for the Bulldogs, tying the school record set during the 1945-47 seasons.
