Everyone Accounted For!

Okay, soooooooo yesterday was friggin’ HUGE!!!

And in case it comes up, we are told that all 4 transfers are official with UGA. Turnage is even on campus now, joining Tykee Smith, Arik Gilbert, and Derion Kendrick.

Kendrick may have a little work to do academically, but we fully expect him to be a 100% full go when it’s time. Gilbert had to have gotten a hardship waiver or something for the last semester at LSU when he left in the middle of classes. We fully expect him to be ready to go as well.

Double Commit Watch

I doubt there will be any kind of announcement from either one, but UGA will very likely get great news twice this week. We have definitely seen the reports about Arik Gilbert being at UGA soon, some even saying today.

Don’t be shocked if he is in Athens today. From someone very close to this on the UGA side, that is what we expect to happen.

In case that’s not enough, we’ve also been told that it is a go for Derion Kendrick to join the guys this week. It could happen as early as today or Wednesday or as late as this weekend!

These two additions should put UGA on pace for a great season and big playoff run!

Recruiting Update – Quick Hitters on Over 35 Recruits

Here are things I/we have been told in no particular order:

1.  Expect news with Derion Kendrick and UGA sometime around Wednesday.

2. Arik Gilbert is planning his class schedule around the academic advice from UGA, not LSU.

3. Mykel Williams, Branson Robinson, and Oscar Delp are Dawgs.

4. We have work to do with Kevin Coleman, Kojo Antwi, Elijah Pritchett, Daylen Everette, Jeremiah Alexander, and Walter Nolen.

5. We don’t have room for Jake Pope, Emory Floyd, Trequan Fegans, Isaiah Bond, Daniel Martin, Donovan Westmoreland, Maurice Clipper (these are all guys we could have easily pulled).

6. Some think LSU is in the best spot for 5* Shemar Stewart, I’ve been told it’s more of a toss up.

7. UGA will get a visit from 5* Ohio State commit Jaheim Singletary.

8. 2023 4* OL Madden Sanker will be a Dawg if we want him.

9. So far 2022 5* Bear Alexander is saying and doing all the right things to show that he is solid to UGA.

10. UGA leads for 2023 4* OT Payton Kirkland.

11. 2022 3* OL Cason Henry is a Dawg if we give him a committable offer.

12. We won’t be able to talk 2023 4* in-state QB Dylan Lonergan into following Vandagriff and Stockton in back to back classes. Eli Holstein is a higher target anyway.

13. Vic Burley is a Dawg.

14. We’re recruiting this IMG crew harder than any group we have before………and IT’S WORKING.

15. Penn State still leads for Dani Dennis-Sutton, but we’re making them work.

16. De’Nylon Morrissette transferred to North Cobb so he could early enroll at UGA.

17. UGA leads behind the scenes for AJ Harris, but Ohio State and others were big offers for him.

Silent Commit

Watch for Kamari Wilson to go public soon with his commitment to UGA. I’m not sure if it will be before or during his OV to UGA, which is planned for June 4th. I have been told that the plan is for him to be committed by then so he can come back to Athens when a lot of his IMG teammates take their official visits during the June 18th weekend.

That way he’ll be a committed prospect and can help recruit Tyler Booker and company to UGA.

Another Transfer Watch

We posted early yesterday morning that there could be movement soon on Derion Kendrick and now more people are posting the same.

Now we’re posting early this morning that there could be movement soon on Arik Gilbert and UGA.

For a long time it looked like it would be a minor miracle for Gilbert to qualify. Well, something happened. I do know he has been taking extra classes, but it even looked like that wouldn’t get him qualified to play D1 football this fall.

Now it looks very much like he will qualify. And if what I’ve been told is right, he plans to play his football in Athens GA in the red and black this fall.

Expect movement on Derion Kendrick and UGA soon (next week or two) from what I’ve been told.

#3 Safety Not a Stone Cold Lock?

I haven’t posted much at all on in-state safety Caleb Downs mainly because his brother (Josh) is currently at UNC. Their uncle is also Dre Bly, cornerbacks coach for UNC.

With those two huge connections, most think he is a stone cold lock to UNC. That may not be the case. UGA is in a good spot here early and could end up making some noise here.

I don’t think UGA leads or anything like that and would still pick him to North Carolina if I had to right now, but this may be one to keep an eye on down the road.

Big Time DB Trending Away From Dawgs

There was a decent bit of time where it looked like 4* DB Trequon Fegans would be one of the next to commit to UGA. It really looked like he was a shoe in to join the 2022 class. We’re told that is no longer the case.

One reason it took Alabama so long to offer and really start recruiting him hard is because they were concerned with his speed and his desire to play strictly corner. I don’t know near enough about their recruiting situation to say why they’re going after him harder now, but it could be one of a few things:

1. They also thought he was a shoe in for UGA and wanted to make us work harder for him. Saban and Kirby are both known for this.

2. They’re truly pursuing him and they’re just lying to him about playing corner to get his commitment or they have info on him improving his speed and really want him at corner.

3. They’ve talked him into being open to playing a different position in the secondary.

I’ve been told that UGA is also concerned about his speed and don’t necessarily see him as a outside man to man corner. With this, we feel good with our other secondary targets and have cooled on him a bit.

Sidenote – His head coach at Oxford took the Auburn High job and it was rumored that Fegans and his brother will be transferring there.

We’ll keep this intro short and sweet. Prospects have not been able to visit college campuses and talk to coaches in forever. June will be absolutely NUTS as far as visit go. We’ve done our best to keep track of when and where these visits will take place.

More on the Transfer Rumors

If you read yesterday, you saw where we talked about the rumors of an offensive lineman possibly transferring.

The name that we got that was involved in the RUMOR is former 5* Broderick Jones.. Again, as of right now we don’t think anything will happen.

If, and I mean IF the rumor is true, the only thing I can think of is this. And this is just me guessing/thinking out loud:

(The only way I could see it is if he really wants the LT spot and sees the writing on the wall with Amarius Mims).

Again, nobody I’ve talked to knows anything about an imminent transfer out and especially this one.

What happens a lot of times is that a player will voice some kind of frustration, then someone close to the players hears about it, They tell someone else, then it get blown way out of proportion the more people are told. Next thing you know, there are transfer rumors.

These guys are going to get frustrated when they’re not in the starting lineup. For most of them, it’s the first time they’ve been on the sidelines and not the only big man on campus. That doesn’t mean they’re going to transfer every time they get pissed.

Transfer Rumors – In and Out

One of the big rumors going around is that a contributor on offense may be transferring and that it’s an offensive lineman. From asking around, we believe this rumor is FALSE. We don’t know of anyone on offense considering transferring. That doesn’t mean it won’t happen before the season, but none right now that we know of. Ans one of the main people we asked is a parent of a current offensive lineman.

I posted about Tyreke Johnson transferring from Ohio State. He was once a top target for UGA before it seemed like we backed off. He is now in the portal, but I doubt we go after him. We’re also not going after LSU quarterback transfer TJ Finley. I’d watch for Auburn there.

Rusty on Dawgs247 mentioned that Brandon Turnage (DB/S transferring from Alabama) is one to keep an eye on with UGA. He supposedly loves Matt Luke from what we’re told.

How Bad Will Staff Change Hurt UGA?

There are two things that are 100% true in Nick Williams moving to Texas A&M for a bigger gig.

1) UGA was always going to have to fight Texas A&M until the end for 5* commit Bear Alexander.

2) Now we’re going to have to fight even harder

Saying that, I’ve been told there’s nothing to worry about right now in Bear’s commitment to UGA. While he loves Williams, he also loves UGA. It certainly doesn’t help with Williams at A&M now, but Bear isn’t going to flip there just because of Williams.

Of course things can change, but that’s what we’re hearing right now.

Dawgs Working on DB Transfer

Jadarrius Perkins is a JUCO defensive back that originally signed with Missouri, but is now looking around. We have posted about him before when he decided to transfer, but we have now heard that UGA is zeroing in on trying to get a commitment from the 6’2 DB. We were also told that he is listening A LOT and this is close to being a done deal.

Watch UGA and #1 Player in the Nation

For a little while, I thought UGA was trailing at least 3-4 other teams for LT Overton. Of course he is big on Oklahoma where his dad played. His dad was also on staff at Alabama, and they’ll be in on it until the end.

BUT………………UGA is really one to watch here. The Dawgs seem to be making a lot of noise here. Of course he’s 2023, so it’ll be a while before a decision is made, but I’d really REALLY watch Georgia here.

This is another that could come down to UGA vs Alabama. IF we get him, it will be mainly because of Scott Cochran.
