UGA Football: Mitchell Among Standouts At Lively G-Day
At the end of a busy first half on Saturday at Sanford Stadium, Georgia wide receiver Adonai Mitchell made a lunging catch for a 24-yard touchdown. Mitchell, the 6-foot-4 freshman, then popped to his feet from the Dooley Field turf and blew the small crowd of fans behind the end zone a kiss.
It was one of many nice moments for Mitchell and the Bulldogs during a lively G-Day Game.
“He’s a competitor, he makes plays down the field,” head coach Kirby Smart said of Mitchell. “For a guy that just enrolled, that just got here, he did a good job.”
In the annual split-squad exhibition to wrap up spring practice, Mitchell, one of Georgia’s 16 early enrollees, was targeted often by the Red squad’s quarterbacks — and more often than not Mitchell delivered. After a couple of early incompletions when he was well covered, Mitchell wound up with five catches for 80 yards in the half and seven catches for 105 yards in the game.

UGA Women’s Tennis: No. 3 Bulldogs Finish Regular Season 13-0 in SEC Play
Tuscaloosa, Ala. – The No. 3 Georgia women’s tennis team concluded its regular season at 17-1 overall and a perfect 13-0 in conference action after defeating No. 17 Texas A&M 4-0 Sunday afternoon.
The Bulldogs finish undefeated in SEC play for the fifth time in program history and second time defeating all current SEC teams since the league expanded in 2012.
In doubles, Georgia set the tone early, earning the doubles point thanks to the No. 8 duo of Katarina Jokic and Ariana Arseneault defeating No. 39 Tatiana Makarova and Jayci Goldsmith. The pairing picked up their fifth top-50 win of the season with their 6-3 win. Elena Christofi and Morgan Coppoc also defeated their opponent 6-3, taking down Renee McBryde and Dorthea Faa-Hviding on court two. UGA Women’s Equestrian – How Bout Them Dawgs! National Champs!!!
WACO, Texas — The University of Georgia Bulldogs put together a true team effort and captured the 2021 National Championship crown, defeating No. 4 SMU, 9-7, in the Extraco Events Center on Saturday afternoon.
The national title marks Georgia’s seventh overall and is the most of any program in NCEA history.
“What an incredible day with terrific rides,” Georgia head coach Meghan Boenig said. “This team is so deserving and there are so many emotions running high. To SMU- they rode their hearts out and made it difficult for us. This group, particularly our seniors came out here after SECs and said, ‘We are not done. This is not how our story ends.’ What a special day and a day to celebrate. I am so proud of this team and everything they’ve accomplished.”
