UGA Recruiting: Dawgs Central Official Prediction – Linebackers? Yes Please

The University of Georgia just put three linebackers in the NFL draft this year. The trio of Quay Walker (Round 1, Pick 22), Nakobe Dean (Round 3, Pick 83), and Channing Tindall (Round 3, Pick 102) might just be the best to come out of Athens in the same year. Azeez Ojulari (Round 2, Pick 50) and Monty Rice (Round 3, Pick 92) were big picks for UGA in 2021. Tae Crowder was Mr Irrelevent in as the 255th pick in the seventh round in 2020. D’Andre Walker was drafted by the Titans in the fifth round of the 2019 draft. The dynamic duo of Roquan Smith (Round 1, Pick 😎 and Lorenzo Carter (Round 3, Pick 66) have great careers so far after being drafted in 2018. Leonard Floyd (Round 1, Pick 9) and Jordan Jenkins (Round 3, Pick 66) were the first two Dawgs off the board in 2016.

Plenty of other Dawg linebackers have been drafted…………………..enough to challenge for the LB-U moniker. The class that really rivals the 2022 draft class is when Jarvis jones (Round 1, Pick 17) and Alec Ogletree (Round 1, Pick 30) both went in the first round of the 2013 draft. Ultra-athlete Cornelius Washington went in the sixth round that same year.

Why all the draft information? Because UGA has a great chance of pulling in a trio of inside linebackers that could rival any of these draft classes. Already on board is in-state 4* CJ Allen. Raylen Wilson, a 4* who will likely end up a 5* when it’s all said and done, recently decommitted from Michigan. We have officially predicted him to UGA. The other top target is Troy Bowles, 4* son of Tampa Bay head coach Todd Bowles.

On any given day, you could probably just throw a dart at their names to pick who everyone thinks is the best out of the group. Each of them have their own unique qualities. Bowles might be better in coverage than the other two, while Wilson could be the better overall athlete. Allen is probably the one nobody wants to go 1on1 with in practice.

The good thing is, just as we did with Allen and Wilson, we are officially predicting Bowles to UGA. The #44 overall player in the nation Bowles took officials to UGA, Ohio State, and Oklahoma in the month of June. The Buckeyes are thought to be the biggest competition at the moment. He doesn’t have a commit date set in stone, but don’t be surprised if he makes his decision soon. I would be surpsied if it’s not done before the summer is over.
