Arch Manning to Texas – What Now for UGA? (Plus a Little Butthurt)

Well, there it is. Four days after taking his official visit to Austin, Arch Manning committed to the Texas. This should come as no surprise, as the Longhorns have always been a very serious player in his recruitment. The Manning family didn’t let much get out at all about where Arch stood in his recruitment, leaving recruiting analysts to trust what they were hearing from the respective schools that they cover.

Of course, UGA felt very good about their chances after Manning’s official visit two weekends ago. Texas also did after this weekend and they won out. The pull to play for Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian was just too much for the Dawgs to overcome. Arch loves him. I also believe the opportunity to be the guy that brings Texas back to college football relevence played a part here.

So, where do the Dawgs turn to?

The first answer is NOWHERE. You have Carson Beck, Brock Vandagriff, and Gunner Stockton on campus. You ride with them and wait until next year for a 2024 QB or hit the transfer portal.

The second solution would be to see if 2023 in-state QB Dylan Lonergan is hurt that you overlooked him for Arch Manning. That’s IF you think he is the guy for this year. You also have Kasen Weisman as a 2023 in-state QB available. I just don’t think that’s the route we take.

Another option would be to try and jump into the mix with 2023 5* QB Dante Moore or 2023 4* Jaden Rashada. In my opinion, the only way to do this would be to play the NIL game………………..and that’s dependent on if that is even a factor for these two. It would be fun to watch the Florida tears by stealing Rashada. I don’t believe this is a route we take either.

IF you wait to grab a 2024 QB, Georgia is very much in the mix for 5* quarterbacks Julian Sayin, DJ Lagway, and Jadyn Davis. Of course UGA was a serious player for Dylan Raiola, but he seems to be very much locked in with Ohio State. I don’t think he’ll be an option now. The transfer portal is so crazy, it wouldn’t be worth even mentioned any names that could be available when the time comes.

NOW FOR THE BUTTHURT PORTION OF THE ARTICLE!

Please tell me what Steve Sarkisian has EVER done………………………..

He’s never won more than 9 games in a season as a head coach. His overall winning percentage as a head coach is .548 at 51-42. He was fired from Southern Cal in 2015 for drinking problems. He was fired after two seasons as the Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator after taking over for Kyle Shanahan. He was the offensive coordinator for the Alabama team that LOST to Clemson in the national championship game in the 2016 season.

The ONLY real success he’s ever had is as the offensive coordinator of Alabama in 2019 and 2020, where he just continued what Mike Locksley did the year before he was hired. Also, look below at the players he had at Alabama those two seasons. Plug in pretty much any offensive coordinator in the nation not named James Coley or Brian Schottenheimer and they could have gotten the same results with thos five star rosters.
