UGA Sports: COVID-19 Update from Athletic Director Greg McGarity

Good afternoon:

SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey announced today beginning March 12 and continuing on through March 30, regular-season competition for teams in all sports on SEC campuses, as well as SEC championship events, would be immediately suspended.  This suspension includes the SEC Gymnastics championships that were to be held in Duluth as well as the SEC Equestrian championship to be held here in at our Equestrian Complex in Bishop.

Winter and Spring NCAA Championship events have also been canceled per the NCAA.  This includes the Women’s Swimming & Diving championships that were to be held here in Athens next week.

This is an unfortunate case of events, but we are following these precautionary measures for the health and safety of ours fans, staff, and student athletes.  We are in constant communication with the conference office, NCAA, and campus officials on the direction to be taken after March 30th.  As decisions are made, we will make sure to get the information out to you in a timely manner.

For those that purchased tickets through the Georgia ticket office for any event canceled, we do plan on issuing a refund.  Ticket holders who purchased tickets via the secondary market or other sources must contact the seller or secondary source directly.

There are many resources to point you towards during this unprecedented period of time.
