ATHENS, Ga. – The 19th-ranked Georgia softball program remained undefeated at home with a pair of wins Saturday at Jack Turner Stadium.

Georgia defeated 21st-ranked James Madison in run-rule fashion for the second-straight day, 13-5. The Bulldogs followed it up with a 7-4 victory over Central Michigan later in the afternoon.

The Bulldogs scattered nine hits, led by two-hit performances from freshman Sara Mosley and sophomore Savana Sikes, driving in three and two runs, respectively. Georgia had five extra-base hits including home runs from Jordan DoggettMackenzie Puckett, and Mosley.

UGA Swimming and Diving: Georgia Men Take Third, Women Fourth at SEC Championships

AUBURN, Ala. – Highlighted by another sweep in the women’s breaststroke, University of Georgia swimming and diving earned a pair of top-five finishes Saturday at the 2020 SEC Swimming & Diving Championships at the James E. Martin Aquatics Center.

In the final tally, the Georgia men finished third with 953.5 points, while the Lady Bulldogs placed fourth with 986 points. In the men’s competition, Florida won its eighth-consecutive conference title, while Tennessee took its first women’s championship in school history.

For the men, it is their eighth top-three finish in the past nine seasons, and for the women, it continues a 40-season streak of finishing in the top five at SECs.

UGA Baseball: No. 4 Bulldogs Battle Santa Clara In Four-Game Set

ATHENS—– Fourth-ranked Georgia starts a four-game series with undefeated Santa Clara Friday at Foley Field. First pitch will be at 3 p.m. followed by a doubleheader Saturday and a single game Sunday.

Both teams are coming off midweek victories as the Bulldogs (4-0) went on the road and defeated Kennesaw State Wednesday 10-3. The Broncos are off to their best start since 2012 when they began the year 5-0. Before heading to Athens, Santa Clara upset No. 25 Stanford 3-2 Tuesday as six pitchers combined to limit the Cardinal to a pair of runs on three hits. The Broncos have outscored their opponents 43-12 and boast a team ERA of 2.00. The Bulldogs and Broncos have never met on the diamond.

Georgia is batting .308 with a 3.75 ERA and a .980 fielding percentage. Also of note, the Bulldogs are 14-for-14 in stolen base attempts with junior Tucker Bradley leading the team with five followed by senior Cam Shepherd with four. Bradley (.538-1-6) and Shepherd (.412-1-6) rank among the SEC’s leading hitters at this point while junior Garrett Blaylock (.294-3-6) is second in the in SEC in home runs. Sophomore Ben Anderson (357-0-1) is second in the SEC with 10 runs scored.

ATHENS, Ga. – The University of Georgia Lady Bulldog basketball team fell to the 16th-ranked Texas A&M Aggies, 64-47, Thursday evening in Stegeman Coliseum.

 

Redshirt-junior Jenna Staiti paced Georgia with 15 points. Senior Stephanie Paul joined Staiti in double-digit scoring, notching 12 points.

 

“We’ve just got to have better discipline,” Georgia head coach Joni Taylor said. “I thought some of our more experienced players weren’t focused and locked in when they needed to be down the stretch and made some mental mistakes that we normally don’t make. That can’t happen in games like this where we have a chance to win on our home floor.”

ATHENS, Ga. —The No. 11 University of Georgia gymnastics team will travel to face the No. 12 Kentucky Wildcats on Friday, February 21 in the team’s second Southeastern Conference road competition of the season.  The meet is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. with action being streamed on the SEC Network +.

The GymDogs are coming off a dominate showing in the team’s Tri-Meet against Ball State and Eastern Michigan, while the Wildcats posted their season-best bars score in a loss to LSU on the road.
